Raising Glasses is a new independent bottler of Scotch, Rum, and other spirits. Lorri and John, the founders and husband and wife team, have collected Scotch Whisky for many decades. Their well-developed palates have taken them to this new and exciting world of picking their own casks and bottling them under their “Raising Glasses” label. They are about sharing good bottles and want to raise a glass with you! Holly has also been friends with them for quite some time as they were customers of hers when she worked in Boston. Good people and good whisky ( and rum); what more can you ask for?
Taste
“Moongazer” was distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2022 | 9YRS UK Maturation | Molasses distilled on their Versailles Pot Still | Color has been added to this whisky. It was done before Raising Glasses had a choice but the rum was still delicious so not a reason to pass on it!
5% of profits from this bottle go to the Blossoms of Guyana which aids educational opportunities for low-income children.
Brand Tasting Notes: Raisin, syrup, birdseed, mocha, charred banana, black tea, and ozone.
Holly’s Tasting Notes: Chocolate charred bananas, banana nuts, figs, and prunes. You can smell the thick, syrupiness even before tasting. The palate has a rich almost bready quality, malt balls maybe. I couldn’t put my finger on it but then I wrote: green tea smooth, matcha chocolate. There is some coconut and cream in there too. A lot of chocolate and caramel. Great texture.
