Raising Glasses is a new independent bottler of Scotch, Rum, and other spirits. Lorri and John, the founders and husband and wife team, have collected Scotch Whisky for many decades. Their well-developed palates have taken them to this new and exciting world of picking their own casks and bottling them under their “Raising Glasses” label. They are about sharing good bottles and want to raise a glass with you! Holly has also been friends with them for quite some time as they were customers of hers when she worked in Boston. Good people and good whisky ( and rum); what more can you ask for?
Taste
Calgary’s Romero Distillery produces uniquely Canadian Rum with Canadian molasses, glacier-fed water, and extreme “Chinook” winds subjecting their casks to massive swings in pressure and temperature.
First matured in a Woodford Reserve Bourbon Barrel and then finished in a Jerez Sherry Cask for over 3 years
Molasses distilled in Pot & Column Stills | 5% of proceeds from this bottling go to the Calgary Homeless Foundation
Brand Tasting Notes: Succulently rich and silky rum with notes of dark fruit, burnt caramel, and soft tannins.
Holly’s Tasting Notes: White chocolate hot cocoa, apples, vanilla, and strawberry wafer cookies. There is even some angel food cake with strawberries. The palate is more earthy sweetness like rhubarb pie, dough, and vanilla.
