Description
Lost Lantern is a Vermont-based independent bottler of American whiskey, founded by Nora Ganley-Roper and Adam Polonski. Inspired by the long tradition of Scotch independent bottlers, the two spent more than a year criss-crossing the United States—visiting distilleries, meeting craft distillers, and sourcing exceptional casks.
Since launching its first releases in late 2020, Lost Lantern has earned wide acclaim: in 2023, it was named Independent Bottler of the Year at the Global Icons of Whisky Awards. Based in Vergennes, Vermont, Lost Lantern bottles both single casks and small-batch blends from more than 30 distilleries across 20+ states, always emphasizing transparency about the origin, age, proof, and distillery source.
Taste
Single Cask No. 1 2026
Lost Lantern hand-selected this cask from Boulder Spirits in Boulder, Colorado. The distillery was founded by Scotsman Alastair Brogan, who has brought Scottish whiskymaking traditions to the Colorado Rockies. This dry, high-elevation environment makes for bold and unique spirits.
This unpeated American single malt whiskey was made from 100% malted barley.
Brand Tasting Notes: It has powerful, spicy oak notes on the nose. The palate has hints of clove, red pears, pomegranate, and rich oak. Big, dense, and powerful, yet with a surprising amount of sweetness, this is a true exemplar of a powerhouse American single malt aged in new oak. Near-hazmat, this powerful dram is a great crossover into American single malt for lovers of intense, powerful bourbons.
Holly’s Tasting Notes: Stones, s’mores, Coca Cola, some smoke (not peat, more earth/soot), dirt and a chalky, sweet oak palate.
