Whispering Waters is an Independent Bottling brand founded by Jay Roberts under his import company, Whiskey Lab. Importing exceptional independent bottlers like Tri Carragh and Uncharted, he decided to purchase his own casks of Single Malt Scotch as well. Whispering Waters is a salute to the “silent service,” which is Scotland’s sea lore of submariners.
Taste
First matured in an ex-Bourbon Hogshead and finished in a 1st Fill Oloroso Barrique.
Brand Tasting Notes: The nose offers a vibrant burst of fresh fruit and pecans with subtle hints of citrus, setting a fresh and inviting tone that welcomes the taster into the complexities to follow. The palate is rich and deep. It unfolds with a medley of dried fruits, notably sweet dates, intertwined with the caramel-like sweetness of brown sugar. Each sip invites deeper exploration into the layered flavors.
Holly’s Tasting Notes: Warm and ripe tangerines, caramel, nougat, and vanilla wafers. The palate has fruit with some Sprite and citrus cola. Almost tastes like fruit punch mixed with seltzer water. Apples, lemon, and some chocolate on the finish. A very well-balanced sherry finish still allows Teaninich to shine through.
Teaninich is another workhorse distillery in the Highlands known to produce a bright spirit. It is also known for lacking a mash tun, utilizing a mash filter, which is very rare, and long fermentations.
