Description

Ardnamurchan is steeped in rural, coastal woods on a peninsula on the West Coast of Scotland and has stayed true to its natural roots. All the power and heat requirements for the distillery come from local renewables. They have a biomass boiler and hydroelectricity generator that are both fueled by woodchip from the local forestry. They want as little of a footprint as possible. A truly beautiful and remote distillery owned by Adelphi, the independent bottler. Ardnamurchan translates to “Headland of the Great Seas”.

Taste

100% malted barley peated to 30–35 ppm
Matured in 29 ex-bourbon casks for 3 years prior to being re-racked into ex-Sauternes barriques for a further 3.5 years

Brand Tasting Notes: The nose opens with a lively flash of lime leaf and lemon balm that mellows to buttery shortbread, warm hay, and caramelized pineapple. The palate broadens to honey and lemon meringue pie, wreathed in nutmeg and earthy smoke. The finish is long and bright, accented with spice and smoke.
