Description
Whispering Waters is an Independent Bottling brand founded by Whiskey Lab and its founders Jay Roberts and Mark Sumlin. The two friends quickly identified that many Scotch drinkers were craving something more interesting and craved small-batch releases of either unknown or unavailable single malts. This is why they decided to buy their own casks of single malt Scotch and bottle it under this new brand.

Full maturation in First Fill Pedro Ximenez Sherry Casks | Matured for 9 years and 11 months | Distilled on October 28, 2014, and bottled on October 14, 2024
Brand Tasting Notes: The nose has dark, jammy fruits intertwine with herbaceous berries, unveiling layers of sherried sweetness complemented by rich cherry chocolate and sun-dried fruits. The palate has silky dark chocolate envelops the taste buds, enriched with stewed blackberries and currants, woven together with honeyed dates. A robust undertone of dense oak anchors the flavors. The finish has woody spices gradually emerge, supported by a backdrop of sherried oak. Subtle hints of chilli and candied ginger add a zesty, lingering velvety warmth to the finish.
Holly’s Tasting Notes: Tons of raisins, chocolate, and chocolate raisin oatmeal cookies. The palate has tons of mocha, cappuccino, and a nice earthy richness. This reminds me of some previously released “cigar malts”.
Braeval distillery, known for its contributions to popular blends, seldom releases its spirits as single malts, making this offering a rare treasure for discerning palates. Nestled in the highest altitudes of Speyside, Braeval’s whiskies are celebrated for their vibrant and lush character.
