Description

Whiskybroker Ltd was founded in 2010 as a “one-man-band” by Martin Armstrong aiming to source and sell casks of whisky to clubs and enthusiasts wishing to purchase larger quantities than just one cask at a time. They began offering bottling service in addition to sourcing and maturation in 2011 becoming a one-stop shop for small, new brands. They have continuously grown and now sit on a 15-acre site with two storage warehouses. They are located in Creetown, Scotland and also associated with the independent bottler brands “Cree” and “Creetown”.

Taste

Cask #4 | The cask was filled on March 29th, 2007 and bottled on October 30th, 2023

This is from an Orkney distillery, and there are only two distilleries on Orkney making whisky: Highland Park and Scapa. You can find Scapa in independent bottlings, but it is quite uncommon; most of the releases titled ‘Orkney’ are a nod to Highland Park. The Orkney Islands are in the North Sea above the mainland of Scotland. It is a pretty remote place with dramatic landscapes and a rich Viking heritage. Highland Park Distillery is owned by Edrington Group (Macallan) and is known for making a very delicate, floral peated malt with maritime influence.

Holly’s Tasting Notes: Caramel green apples, some orange rhind with vanilla and a sea breeze. White chocolate-covered mint. The palate is much brighter with more lemon and orange zest, vanilla pudding, and herbal sweetness on the finish.
