Description

The name Tri Carragh is a tribute to the Gaelic phrase meaning “three pillars,” honoring the essential ingredients of whisky: water, barley, and yeast. They are a young independent bottler based in Edinburgh under the parent company name of Stravaig Spirits. The founders are Ryan McCafferty and Ola Lopatowska. They also own the brand Glenlaird Scotch Whisky and help others source and bottle their own casks of whisky. Pronounced “tree-ka-rah”.

Taste

Distilled May 11th, 2015 | Selected by the Houston Scotch Whisky Society

Finished in an Amontillado Sherry Octave (small cask)

Teaninich is another workhorse distillery in the Highlands known to produce a bright spirit. It is also known for lacking a mash tun, utilizing a mash filter, which is very rare.

Holly’s Tasting Notes: Warm vanilla pudding, candied caramel, and Werther’s candies. Hot caramel drizzled over hot cocoa, along with warm, buttered raisin bread. The palate is brighter with raspberries, citrus, seltzer (that’s the Teaninich showing itself), and dark chocolate.
