Thompson Bros. is an independent bottling brand founded by brothers Phil and Simon Thompson. They got their start by establishing one of Scotland’s top whisky bars at the Dornoch Hotel in the highlands of Scotland, north of Inverness. They also crowdfunded to start their own distillery at the Dornoch Castle Hotel as well and began distilling in 2017.

This is their first debut in the United States with the SRV5 Blended Malt and TB/BSW Blended Scotch. There was a trademark issue here in the US regarding the “Thompson Bros” name so they changed it for our market, calling it “Redacted Bros”.

Taste

This is a blend of single malt and single grain whiskies. This release is to celebrate sherry maturation and sherry-forward blends of the past. This may or not be teaspooned malt from a very luxurious distillery in the Speyside Region.

Brand Tasting Notes: The nose has plum sauce, miso, Maggi, golden sultanas, cinder toffee, coffee, and creme patisserie. The palate has golden sultanas, raisin loaf, buttered Jamaican cake, maple, and toasted cinnamon. The finish is soft with warm spices, allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon, orange peel and dried figs.
