In 1761 the Camarena family co-founded the town of Arandas in Los Altos of Jalisco; this family was the first to plant blue agave in Arandas. One hundred years later, in 1861, Pedro Camarena Ramírez was born, founder of the first tequila tavern in Jesús María and Arandas; and father of a lineage of renowned tequila industry producers. Now in 6th generation ownership, the Camarena family is still running the brand.
