Holmes Cay (pronounced “key”) was co-founded by the husband/wife Eric Kaye and Maura Gedid. They curate a global collection of small-batch, limited-edition rums all over the world, and will even release rums from better-known distilleries that might not fit a particular profile. Founded in 2019 because they couldn’t find good sipping rums that interested them.

This single cask expression from Holmes Cay was distilled at a historic 228-year-old estate in Venezuela’s Aragua valley that, for legal reasons, independent bottlers may not disclose by name. Instead, the distillery is connoted by the moniker, “Destileria Sofa.” Aged entirely in its country of origin, this is the highest-proof bottling to date released in the US from this distillery.
