Glaschu Spirits Co. is a Glasgow-based independent whisky bottler founded by two former aircraft engineers, Paul Jamieson and Julian Mithoff, who launched the brand in September 2022 after having earlier set up the online cask trading platform DamGoodDrams in 2020. Their mission: to showcase selected single cask whiskies with distinctive finishes, bold label designs rooted in Glasgow’s industrial heritage, and a spirit of experimentation and independence.
From their first bottlings, they’ve concentrated on unique maturation casks and high-quality spirits from established Scottish distilleries, releasing limited runs described as “carefully curated” and non-chill filtered. As of now, Glaschu Spirits Co. stands as a modern example of how independent bottlers are carving out their identity—bringing the city of Glasgow’s name (the Gaelic “Glaschu”) into the whisky world with character, craftsmanship, and a niche focus.

Peallach (’pyal-akh’) is a pseudonym name for Ledaig, the heavily peated spirit produced at Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull. Established back in 1798, Tobermory Distillery is one of Scotland’s oldest, embracing the windswept wilds and maritime air of the Scottish Inner Hebrides.
The artwork on this release shows a Boeing Stearman biplane approaching the bay of Tobermory, on the Isle of Mull. A similar aircraft resides at the Island’s only airfield, Glenforsa. Tobermory is famous for its row of colourful houses, visible in the artwork, along with the distillery at the left-hand side of the bay.
Brand Tasting Notes: The nose has smouldering maple wood with hints of brûléed figs and cherry liqueur, lifted by a faint coastal breeze that recalls a quiet beach walk. The palate has dark chocolate and sticky toffee pudding leading the way, followed by candied orange, spiced plum, and a gentle wave of sweet peat smoke that ties everything together. The finish is long, smouldering, and indulgent, fading into honeyed dates and lingering warmth.
