Description

Fukano Distillery has been making spirits in Japan since 1823. Shigeruriku Fukano is the fifth generation of his family to run the distillery, located in Hitoyoshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture of Japan, a few towns away from Ohishi Distillery and, consequently, the Kuma River supplies the water for both distilleries. Fukano bottles a variety of rice-based whisky expressions that have a minerality and texture we have come to know and love.

Taste
  • Distilled from 100% rice (malted, unmalted, and koji)
  • Single distilled in a stainless steel pot still

Brand Tasting Notes: Fruity, floral aromas reminiscent of refreshing Kuma shochu with a touch of oak tannin and caramelized pineapple; light-bodied and mineralic on the palate with underripe yellow nectarine, cinnamon, and wet leather on a bright, salinic finish.

Fukano Blonde—an all-new, limited expression from the famed distillery—is bottled to showcase the beauty of Fukano’s spirits with minimal oak influence. The whisky’s past life as Kuma shochu and the imparted terroir of the Kumamoto prefecture weave in and out from the nose through to the finish, which takes on an energizing and refreshing quality.
