Description

Distiller’s Art is a single cask range of bottlings released by Hunter Laing. Hunter Laing was founded in Glasgow, similar to the Douglas Laing story and became their own entity in 2013. They are behind other great bottlings such as Old Malt Cask and Old & Rare. They also are the owners of the new Islay distillery, Ardnahoe.

Founded in 1846 as a small distillery next to the bay of Port Askaig on the east coast of Islay. Caol Ila is Gaelic for the Sound of Islay which is the body of water that the distillery overlooks. Of course, it is always compared to neighbors Lagavulin and Laphroaig. And although the distilleries have comparable specifications for their malt, the distillery produces, yes, a heavily peated malt yet more delicate. Their unpeated malt is pretty fantastic too.

Taste

Distilled in September 2010 and bottled in 2018.
