Description
The Dingle Whiskey Distillery was crafted and conceived by three independent spirits: Oliver Hughes; Liam LaHart and Peter Mosley. Oliver, Liam, and Peter are the people behind Porterhouse Brewing Company; one of the pioneers of craft brewing in Ireland in 1996. As time went on, they started thinking about whiskey. At this time in Ireland, there were only three major distilleries producing all of Irish Whiskey, there was no “small-guy” or craft distilling movement.
The Dingle Whiskey Distillery came into being in the cold winter of 2012. Ireland was beginning to come out of the greatest recession in many people’s memory. However unbeknownst to many, the most significant event in the Irish whiskey industry in decades was happening in a tin shed in the town of Dingle, Co. Kerry. To this day the distillery is still privately owned. They first began with their batched whiskey releases and now have their core single malt release along with limited releases.
Taste
Triple Distilled Single Malt | First matured in Bourbon casks and then finished in Muscatel Wine casks, which is a sweet, floral fortified white wine.
Samhain honors the Celtic festival of Samhain which is the festival of fire and feasting and marks the end of bright summer days and begins the Celtic new year.
Brand Tasting Notes: Warm floral citrus and cherry notes on the nose. The palate is zesty with hints of raisins, almonds, sweet spice, and raspberry, concluding with a long finish of summer fruits, pepper, and cinnamon spice.
