Description

Riachi Winery & Distillery is one of Lebanon’s oldest, continuously operational wineries and distilleries. Established by Moses Riachi in 1839, it has since been passed down 8 generations to become Lebanon’s first whisky distillery, while also crafting a wide portfolio of small-batch wines and spirits. They utilize alternative grains and the most unique difference comes in the Athyr Single Cask range where they use Lebanese Oak (Quercus Libani) for maturation. Riachi remains 100% family owned and operated. We are thrilled to be some of the first shops in the USA to carry Riachi whisky!

Taste

Athyr means premium, elite, or other-worldly in Arabic. This is the first Lebanese Single Malt Whisky. They use spring water from the Ain Smaydieh in the Lebanese village of Khenchara. Double distilled, this whisky is then matured in Lebanese Oak (Quercus Libani).

Brand Tasting Notes: Oak, butterscotch, yellow fruits, baking spices, carob, and coffee.

Holly’s Tasting Notes: Werther’s Candy! Strawberries and cream along with some thick mocha. The palate is spicier with chocolate oak spice, Mexican Chocolate, and coffee ice cream with espresso chips and dry molasses. WOW. A very intense whisky! So lovely trying Lebanese Oak. Reminds of a distant cousin of Garryana and some of Westland’s releases.
