Description

Ardnamurchan is steeped in rural, coastal woods on a peninsula on the West Coast of Scotland and has stayed true to its natural roots. All the power and heat requirements for the distillery come from local renewables. They have a biomass boiler and hydroelectricity generator that are both fueled by woodchip from the local forestry. They want as little of a footprint as possible. A truly beautiful and remote distillery owned by Adelphi, the independent bottler. Ardnamurchan translates to “Headland of the Great Seas”.

Taste

Produced from 52% unpeated and 48% peated (30–35 ppm) malted barley
Aged a minimum of 10 years in 54 ex-bourbon barrels and 2 ex-sherry hogsheads

Brand Tasting Notes: The nose opens with buttery oats and oily orange peel, interwoven with a maritime breeze and a heady punch of bonfire lifted with mint. On the palate, rich notes of crème brûlée and vanilla wafer are balanced by brine and earthy smoke. The finish is lingering and warm with persistent echoes of hearth and sea.
