Description

The name Adelphi traces its origins back to 1825 when the Adelphi Distillery was built in Glasgow. Its name was eventually changed to Loch Katrine Adelphi in the late 1870s. The distillery would be sold and eventually stop all production in the early 1900s. It was revived in 1993 by Jamie Walker who used the site as an independent bottling facility. He would eventually sell it on to the current owners, Keith Falconer and Donald Houston in 2004. Adelphi Selections is one of the most sought-after independent bottlers.

In 2014, Keith and Donald built and opened Ardnamurchan Distillery on the west coast of Scotland.

Taste

Cask No. 2369 | First Fill Bourbon Barrel

Brand Tasting Notes: The nose has orchard fruits galore – Bosc pear and nectarine. Black pepper, ouzo, cayenne, plum sauce, hoisin, ginger and almond. The palate has Medjool dates, rum raisin ice cream, Chinese five spice, tamarind, and candied orange peel. The finish is dry, spicy, and bold; with an underlying sweetness and medium length.

Glen Garioch is a very old Highland distillery just north of Aberdeen that claims to have begun in 1797 but whisky may have been made on that site even earlier. It is now owned by Beam Suntory (Laphroaig, Maker’s Mark, etc.) and makes unpeated and peated whisky. Pronounced “glen geery”.
