If you are a lucky whiskey drinker you will have purchased or received one of our First Fill Spirits single barrel selections. We buy these barrels of whiskey for our shop by going through samples, sometimes dozens, to pick out our favorite single barrels of whiskey. Once we have found our favorite, we buy the barrel outright and get somewhere around 100 sometimes up to 300 bottles from that single barrel. Once the bottles are gone, it is gone and we move on to the next single barrel – sad but fun!
If you are like us, you have a lot of bottles in your house and on your shelves, and sometimes a few weeks after we buy something can’t quite recall all of the details about this particular whiskey. This can be even more challenging with single barrels because they truly only exist at our shop so although we would love to have you come back in or call us so we can give you the mash bill, age, tasting notes, and story of how we chose this barrel, odds are you don’t have the time.
This is why we decided to put QR code stickers on the side of every bottle, each one different of course. If you are at home sipping on a First Fill Spirits single barrel, you now have all of the information about that barrel and bottle right on your phone. Once scanned it will bring you to a blog post on our website explaining why we picked that barrel and all of the little details, everything your whiskey heart could desire.
