Description
The name Yellowstone comes from the park but was a Bourbon brand a long time ago. Back in 1872, when the park was first established, Taylor & Williams created and launched the brand Yellowstone Bourbon in honor of the first of America’s public lands. Quickly, it became the flagship brand for Taylor & Williams and J.B. Dant’s distillery. In the 1960s, the Yellowstone brand was one of the best-selling brands in Kentucky. Bourbon fell out of favor for many years after that but finally, under the guidance of Stephen Beam, Yellowstone found a new home at Limestone Branch Distillery. In 2018 in order to ensure the kindred spirit of park and bourbon live for generations to come, Yellowstone Bourbon began a partnership with the NPCA to help preserve and protect our public lands.
Limestone Branch Distillery is located in Lebanon, Kentucky. They also produce Minor Case Rye Whiskey but are really known for the Yellowstone line which consists of Bourbons and Malt whiskies.
Taste
Yellowstone Select is a blend of 4 and 7-year-old Bourbon.
Brand Tasting Notes: The nose has rye spice with soft, leathered cherries. The palate has smoked caramel with hints of vanilla and honey. The finish is smoky oak brown sugar.
Holly’s Tasting Notes: Malty, roasted apples, sweet, crumbly apple pie. There is clay and more apple pie on the palate with some white chocolate.
