Description
Westland is an American Single Malt Distillery in Seattle, Washington. Their focus has always been on a whiskey made out of 100% malted barley and capturing the terroir of the Pacific Northwest in that process. They have been major advocates in ensuring the definition of American Single Malt is defined, and their efforts proved fruitful in late 2021, with the law taking effect in 2025. They use a mixture of American Oak (ex-bourbon), European Oak (ex-sherry), and Garryana (an Oak specifically from the Northwest of the USA) in their maturation. They also work with local farmers to source their grain, along with specialists for regional yeast strains and local peat to create special releases. They are currently owned by Remy Cointreau (Bruichladdich).

American Single Malt finished in Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Washington Red Blend casks
Brand Tasting Notes: The nose has allspice, raspberry reduction, chocolate wafer, dried rose. The palate has chocolate raspberry turnover, Earl Grey tea, and dried strawberry.
Holly’s Tasting Notes: Mixed nuts, red hot cinnamon gum, plums, and walnuts. The palate is super fruity, with oranges, raspberries, and berries in general, and a light oak spice.
