Description

The brand Three Chord was founded by Neil Giraldo. If you’re into music, you’ve probably heard of him having worked with Kenny Loggins, The Coors, Rick Springfield and married to Pat Benatar. When he first began playing guitar, he realized that if he could learn to play three basic chords, and perfect their sound, he could have a career in music — hence the name “Three Chord”. The brand is based in Michigan and Ari Sussman is the head blender.

Taste

This limited release is a marriage of 5-6 year old MGP Bourbon and 8 year old KY Corn Whiskey. Once blended together they were finished for 3 months in toasted barrels followed by 1 month in barrels that previously held honey from the Fern Valley Farm in Arkansas.

Mash Bill: 5 Yr Bourbon (60% corn, 36% rye, 4% malted barley) 6 Yr Bourbon (75% corn, 21% rye, 4% malted barley) 8 Yr Corn Whiskey (99% Corn, 1% malted barley)

Brand Tasting Notes: On the nose, you have spices, honey cake, cedar, and slight floral notes. The palate has balanced viscosity from the oak and honey. A nice subtle heat with a robust toasted character mid-palate followed by layers of toast and honey.
