Description

Small Batch Bottlers is a brand and independent bottling line created by The Distiller’s Art team of George Thomson & Ewen Cameron. You may have seen them on Instagram as we follow them too, but their core business was always combining great malt whisky with fine art. They would pair fantastic landscape art of Scotland with different bottlings of whisky, hence “The Distiller’s Art”. This is not to be confused with the another independent bottler called Distiller’s Art by Hunter Laing. The Small Batch Bottlers range doesn’t flaunt the artwork on the bottle like other releases do but the focus is more on single cask, cask strength releases. This is imported by Raj Sabharwhal from Glass Revolution Imports.

Glen Garioch Distillery is in the Aberdeenshire highlands of Scotland. The official founding date is 1797 although there are some claims that the distillery began even earlier. If this were true, it may be older than Glenturret! It had many owners, one such example is the owners of the blended Scotch Vat 69. It eventually fell under DCL but had water source issues at times and so the former Diageo conglomerate closed the distillery. Two years later, the then owner of Bowmore & Auchentoshan purchased it. Through many more mergers, it now is under the ownership of Beam Suntory and continues to produce spicy and malty single malt. When mature, the heaviness changes into a thick, fat texture, allowing honeyed fruits and heather to emerge.

Holly’s Tasting Notes: Apples, pears, and white pepper spice. The palate continues with that warm spice, sugar cookies, and bright citrus, almost lime!
