Description
Single Cask Nation began as a membership society of folks who were interested in rare, fine single cask whiskies and other spirits. Now they are a top independent bottler of spirits. The founders are Joshua Hatton & Jason Johnstone-Yellin who are both highly regarded in the whisky industry for their palates and podcast, One Nation Under Whisky.
Taste
- Vatting of six 1st-fill ex-bourbon casks; one cask was lightly peated and five were unpeated
- Bottled in Winter 2022, 1600 bottles
Brand Tasting Notes: A nose of bright citrus and pronounced grain sweetness is complemented by canned fruit cocktail and subtle smoke. An oily palate speaks of melted vanilla ice cream, baked apples, and black pepper with a finish of milk chocolate, coffee, and hazelnut toffee.
This marks Single Cask Nation’s second collaboration with The Water of Life, a documentary released in 2021 that explores Scotch whisky’s renaissance following its stagnation in the 1980s.
