Description

Raising Glasses is a new independent bottler of Scotch, Rum, and other spirits. Lorri and John, the founders and husband and wife team, have collected Scotch Whisky for many decades. Their well-developed palates have taken them to this new and exciting world of picking their own casks and bottling them under their “Raising Glasses” label. They are about sharing good bottles and want to raise a glass with you! Holly has also been friends with them for quite some time as they were customers of hers when she worked in Boston. Good people and good whisky ( and rum); what more can you ask for?

Taste

“Guardians” was distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2022 | 6YRS maturation in Trinidad, 2YRS in the UK | Molasses distilled on a column still | No added sugar or additives

Brand Tasting Notes: Opens with cola, passionfruit, and orange zest before finishing with fresh tobacco, cardamom, leather, tangy metal, and sriracha.

Holly’s Tasting Notes: Chocolate chips, caramel, and some oranges. The citrus takes some time to pop through and then alongside that more apples and fruit show up. The more time, the more fruit. The palate had dark chocolate, raspberries, raspberry jelly, coffee grinds, and this sort of metallic taste. I couldn’t pinpoint it but then I looked at my tasting notes from the Trinidad Blackadder we have here at the shop and the notes were comparable. The metallic is that aluminum tin cup of canned fruit with pears, cherries, peaches, etc. Just has a slight metallic taste alongside fruit, which is not off-putting.
