Description

The distillery is located just south of Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand on the North Island, right in the small village of Pōkeno. Founded by whisky industry veteran Matt Johns around 2017, it is now the largest whisky distillery in New Zealand. They use New Zealand grown barley and draw pure spring water from the surrounding volcanic hills. Their location and these hills also make way for a subtropical climate that creates conditions to accelerate the spirit’s maturation and flavor development in the barrel.

Taste

Made from 100% New Zealand grown barley.

Brand Tasting Notes: Citrus, honey, grapefruit, and creamy toffee notes, giving way to a complex and lingering finish.

Holly’s Tasting Notes: Orange marmalade, vanilla pudding, chocolate mousse and red apples. The palate has more oak spice, with candied fruits, banana runts and candied ginger. A nice vanilla cream texture.
