Description

Distilling in Wales was a lost art but in the late 1990s, a group of friends started chatting about a new distillery while sipping beers at a pub. The village of Penderyn was chosen because of the natural spring water and the first whisky was released in 2004. They have now expanded with a new distillery that was built in the Spring of 2021 in Llandudno North Wales and another distillery is planned for Swansea.

Taste

Tasting notes from the producer on cask #PT 318:

Nose: Rich creamy notes of vanilla, caramel, plums, and black grapes. The aroma of red fruits with a hint of strawberries & red apple.

Taste: Sweet and smooth, red berries (raspberries & strawberries), with gentle light tannins and peppery spices. The finish is warm and creamy with more black fruits: cherries, blackberries, and a bit of dry oak.
