The core range of Douglas Laing includes the Remarkable Regional Malts: The Epicurean (Lowland), Timorous Beastie (Highland), Scallywag (Speyside), The Gauldrons (Campbeltown), Rock Island (Islands), as well as Big Peat from Islay. They also bottle single casks such as the Old Particular and Xtra Old Particular bottlings.

Douglas Laing owns Strathearn in Perthshire which was acquired in 2019 and planning to build a new distillery in Glasgow.

Auchroisk, pronounced Orth-rusk, is one of Diageo’s ‘nutty-spicy’ whiskies. It is not a stand-alone brand all production goes into blends.

Taste

Brand Tasting Notes: On the nose, it is aromatic, big, and replete and barley tones, citric notes, and a gentle, sweet caramelized style. The palate is toffee based with sugar and vanilla. The finish is juicy barley with some arresting spices and more caramel biscuits.

Holly’s Tasting Notes: Green and yellow apples, lemon and green apple Jolly Ranchers (if there was lemon), sugar cookies and just such a nice, soft, and gentle sweetness. The palate shows more citrus, lemon yogurt, and some gingerbread cookies. Again, a nice gentle sweetness.
