Description

Murray McDavid was established by London wine merchants Mark Reynier, Simon Coughlin, and Springbank Distillery’s Gordon Wright. They quickly gained a reputation for maturing whisky in interesting casks, especially in fine wine casks. In 2000, the Murray McDavid team set about reopening the closed Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay, engaging the services of Jim McEwan, an icon on Islay. In 2012, Remy Cointreau purchased Bruichladdich Distillery and Murray McDavid. Later, Murray McDavid was sold to its current owners. Today, the home of Murray McDavid is Coleburn Distillery in Speyside.

Taste

At the foot of the mighty Ben Rinnes Mountain is one of the lesser-known distilleries in Scotland. Allt-A-Bhaine is a hidden gem, producing only a small amount of fruity single malt each year. This rare Speysider has been affectionately matured in Kentucky Bourbon and Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks over the past quarter of a century.

Nose: creamy vanilla, butterscotch, fruit & nut. Palate: rich malt, milk chocolate, dried orange. Finish: gentle sweetness, vanilla and oak spice.

Gently maturing for 22 years in American oak, this Allt-A-Bhaine has developed qualities that only time and patience can create. Adding further complexity, this 25-year old spirit rested for its final three years in a Pedro Ximenez Sherry cask to complement the delicacies within this highly venerable single malt whisky.

Only 294 bottles.
