Established in 1859, the Morris family winery is one of the most acclaimed fortified producers of fortified wine in the world. Craftsmanship in blending, aging, and creating world-class fortified wine has been passed down through six generations of the family, allowing MORRIS to truly master the creation of extraordinary flavor in Australian single malt whisky.

In 2016, the distillery was built around the original copper still built in the 1930s and installed at the Morris winery in 1941. After a few years in a barrel, they began to experiment with finishing their whisky in some of the amazing Morris fortified casks that they, of course, had easy access to. This would create a uniquely Australian Whisky experience. They are located in northeast Victoria, right on the border with New South Wales.

Taste

Brand Tasting Notes: Creamy mouthfeel packed full of rich dark fruits and sweet malt notes, which give way to sweet vanilla and cocoa interspersed with cinnamon spice. Primary maturation in a combination of French & American oak ex-wine casks, followed by an extended maturation in Morris multi-award winning ex-fortified Muscat barrels.

Muscat Tasting Notes from Morris: Muscat is a fortified wine style unique to Australia, with this product captivating for its rich & intense flavor. With a deep brown core and amber rim, there is a rich bouquet of intense preserved fruit and a touch of nutty complexity with rich and luscious flavors filling the mouth, finishing dry through the integration of oak.

Holly’s Tasting Notes: Malty, almost overripe peaches. Lemon custard. It is very rich on the nose. The palate is still quite sweet but with more baking spices. Caramel and vanilla chew with some chai spice on the finish.
