Description
METHOD AND MADNESS is a spirit brand hatched from the minds of the Masters and Apprentices of Midleton Distillery (Jameson, Red Breast, Powers, etc). These whiskies are produced at their experimental distillery site, which is still quite large compared to most “experimental” distilleries! But that is good news for us because we get to try these innovative Irish whiskies. The core styles of whisky that they experiment with cask finishes are single malt, single grain, and pot still whiskey. However, they have been releasing alternative grains and other fun projects over the past year or so. They are just getting started!
Taste
A Single Pot Still whiskey aged in Sherry & Bourbon barrels, then finished in chestnut casks.
Brand Tasting Notes: The nose has red licorice laces, fresh rosemary, mint, and grated ginger root. The palate has sweet fruit and spice, cinnamon toast, and ripe banana. The finish has aromatic green tea, fruit, and spice following rich wood.
Holly’s Tasting Notes: Rich, homemade strawberry jam (not the fake, sugary stuff) and chocolate-covered raisins. The palate is spicier with grass, hay and apples, and black liquorice.
