Joseph A. Magnus Bourbon carries forward the story of its namesake, a prominent whiskey producer from the late 1800s whose operation thrived until Prohibition brought it to an end. The brand was brought back to life in 2015 after family members uncovered well-preserved bottles from the original distillery, inspiring a modern recreation of Magnus’s approach to refined, long-aged whiskey.

Today, Joseph A. Magnus whiskeys are distilled and matured in Kentucky, then artfully blended—formerly in Washington, D.C. and Virginia, and now in Holland, Michigan. Each expression is finished in a trio of casks—sherry, cognac, and Armagnac—creating layers of dark fruit, caramel, spice, and oak. This meticulous finishing process gives the whiskey its signature richness, embodying both the spirit of 19th-century bourbon making and the innovation of modern American craftsmanship. Only rarely do you find their whiskey in single casks.
