Description

It was in 1864 that Jasper Newton Daniel (Jack Daniel’s) left home and was taken in by Reverend Dan Call. It was on Call’s family farm that Jack learned the art of whiskey making from the enslaved man Nathan “Nearest” Green. Nearest would eventually become the first head distiller at Jack’s soon-to-be Jack Daniel’s Distillery. In 1866 the distillery is officially established and they began making the iconic Old No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey. This style of whiskey is known for its charcoal-mellowing process. Now well over 150 years old, the distillery is owned by American family company, Brown-Forman.
