Description

Founded in 2006 by Dan Garrison, Garrison Brothers became the first legal whiskey distillery in Texas and a pioneer in the state’s booming craft whiskey movement. Located in the small town of Hye, Texas, the distillery officially began production in 2008 and released its first bourbon to the public in 2010. The harsh Texas climate—with summer warehouse temperatures soaring up to 130°F—proved both a challenge and a blessing. After losing many early barrels to evaporation, the team began crafting custom barrels with thicker staves to withstand the extreme heat and rapid aging. Garrison Brothers’ whiskies mature far faster than those in Kentucky, with about four Texas years often compared to over two decades of traditional maturation. Today, the distillery remains family-owned and proudly produces handcrafted straight bourbon using only Texas-grown corn and Hill Country rainwater.
