Description

Fukano Distillery has been making spirits in Japan since 1823. Shigeruriku Fukano is the fifth generation of his family to run the distillery, located in Hitoyoshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture of Japan, a few towns away from Ohishi Distillery and, consequently, the Kuma River supplies the water for both distilleries. Fukano bottles a variety of rice-based whisky expressions that have a minerality and texture we have come to know and love.

Taste
  • Limited-release whisky produced with koji by Fukano Distillery in Hitoyoshi City, Japan
  • Distilled from 100% rice (malted, unmalted, and koji)
  • Single distilled in a stainless steel pot still

Brand Tasting Notes: An umami forward nose of mushroom, sea salt, and blackberry fruit leather speaks strongly of sherry cask maturation; richly textured and brimming with berry compote along with notes of pear, dry leather, and white pepper on a long, complex finish.

Texturally robust and aromatically refined, Fukano’s Sherry Cask whisky feels and tastes downright luxurious. Bottled in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Fukano Distillery, this momentous release is a one-time commemorative bottling, so get it while you can!
