Description

In the 1970s Mt. Fuji Distillery was established by Kirin-Seagram Co., Ltd., a joint venture of Kirin Brewery Co., Seagrams., and Chivas Brothers. There are many different styles of whisky produced here including Scotch malt whisky style, “American” Bourbon, Canadian, and Scotch Grain. Kirin now owns the distillery outright and of course, their brewing experience makes this a distillery to keep in regard. Their first-ever releases were launched here in the US in the fall of 2021. The Master Blender is Jota Tanaka.

Taste

This is a blend of Mt. Fuji Distillery Whisky and whiskies from around the world.

Brand Tasting Notes: On the nose, there are vanilla beans, crème brûlée, and galette, followed by dried fig, apricot, and a hint of anise.
Water brings out rye spiciness and red berries. The palate has a mellow and smooth mouthfeel with malty, creamy flavors, and then rye spiciness. The finish is moderately woody, very slight peat makes it crisp and then a delicate sweetness follows. Complex and moderately long aftertaste with hints of dried fruits.
