Description

We don’t know much about Frank August but we do know that each batch is blended with no more than 10-15 barrels, and comes in a container that’s described as being “intentionally crafted to function as a beautiful decanter. Along with a heavy-weight brass closure, discrete precious metal gold decoration, and a clear back label that peels away effortlessly, leaving zero residue. The CEO and co-founder is Johnathan Crocker who comes from a marketing background. A minimalist bottle design, custom-made too, as the brand puts it, reflect its “philosophy of modernity and belief that less is more”. “America’s Spirit. Be Frank.”

Case Study 02 | 1948 XO PX Brandy Casks | Kentucky Bourbon from Bardstown, Kentucky

The 10 beautifully rare brandy casks that CASE STUDY: 02 were finished in, were first filled in 1992 with very old Pedro Ximenez for 17 years. They were then dumped and immediately refilled with extra old Pedro Ximenez from 1948 for an additional 13 years. 30 years of considered and incomparable aging, before they made their way into our hands in Kentucky. Still ‘wet’ they immediately filled them with hand-selected barrels of Frank August Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

Brand Tasting Notes: The nose opens with notes of baked peaches and dark chocolate before hints of allspice and oak gradually present themselves. The palate is a sweet entry with a subtle spice that builds. Well-balanced flavors of fruit, spice, and brown sugar begin to develop with a viscosity that is rich and warming. Notes of brandy are clearly present but restrained, and don’t dominate the senses.
