Description
Duncan Taylor was originally based out of Glasgow where they were merchants and brokers of Scotch whisky casks. They have been laying down casks from distilleries all over Scotland for decades and now have one of the largest privately-held collections of rare and vintage Scotch Whisky. They now operate out of Huntly, Scotland in the Highlands. They have become quite infamous for their Octave (small cask) finishes.

Built in the 1930s, Dumbarton was the biggest grain distillery complex of its time although it is now demolished. The distillery was known for its stainless steel column stills compared to the more traditional copper Coffey stills. Due to the lack of copper contact, the grain whisky produced here was known for its heavier qualities. They also almost exclusively used corn (sometimes other grains are used such as wheat). Most of Dumbarton went into Ballantine’s blended Scotch when it was producing. It is rare to find Dumbarton in independent bottlers since it is a closed distillery.
