Description

Del Bac American Single Malt is produced at Hamilton Distillers in Tucson, Arizona. Founded by Stephen Paul, a former furniture producer, and woodworker, he grew up with the native Mesquite in his home in the Sonoran Desert and thought that could be used to make a smokey, American Single Malt. In 2011 Stephen and his daughter started the distillery and focused on single malt. Grain-to-bottle single malt whiskey is produced entirely in-house in Tucson, Arizona, from two-row barley. Twice distilled in a copper pot still. Omits the mesquite-smoking process signature to Del Bac’s other expressions for those that don’t prefer a “peated” whiskey style.

Taste

The second release from the Whiskey Del Bac Global Cask Collection. This whiskey is aged in a combination of medium-char, medium-toast 15-gallon and 30-gallon barrels. Finished an additional 13 months in ex-Calvados barrels from Normandy, France. Aromas of caramel-dipped apples, sour cherry, and dulce de leche seamlessly transition to a citrusy and peppery palate bursting with caramel and stone fruit. Non-chill filtered; 48.5% ABV. Limited release of only 900 bottles.

This release was inspired by Calvados—an AOC-protected brandy distilled from apple and/or pear cider produced exclusively in Normandy. A staple pairing with French cuisine and a crucial component in classic and contemporary cocktails, these enchanting brandies typically display pronounced notes of orchard fruit with well-integrated florality and nuttiness which perfectly complement Del Bac single malt!
