This release was re-racked into Fino Sherry casks in March 2022, bottled in September 2023
Royal Brackla was founded in 1817 by Captain William Fraser. He was a major supporter of the Excise Act of 1823 which allowed for distillers to get an affordable distilling license and not produce illegally. This made Fraser deeply unpopular with the moonshiners in the area but his whisky was a great success, gaining a fan in King William IV – the whisky became known by some as “The King’s Own Whisky.” They are one of only three distilleries to ever be granted the Royal Warrant (the whole distillery was granted the warrant, not just a release). It sits on the Cawdor Estate and the spirit is known for its fresh fruit and grassy qualities.
Brand Tasting Notes: The nose has white grapes, pink grapefruit, marshmallows, and white chocolate. The palate has Manuka honey, orange peel, Aperol spritz, and walnuts. The finish has rock salt, sweet oats, and raisins.
