Description

Established in 2012, Black Button Distilling was Rochester’s first grain-to-glass distillery since prohibition. Jason Barrett, the founder, and head distiller comes from a family that manufactured buttons, hence the name Black Button. It is called a black button though because Jason is color blind. They are now expanding their production and will continue to be based in downtown Rochester, New York.

Taste

A marriage of New York State Corn, Wheat, Rye, and Malted Barley. | 3YRS | Batch 43

Holly’s Tasting Notes: Peanut brittle, nougat, and caramel. There is a silky, sweet cotton candy vibe on the nose as well which I’m assuming is coming from the wheat. The palate is mouth coating with milk chocolate, Nutella, and peanuts with just a dash of oak & cedar spice.
