Description

Ardnamurchan is steeped in rural, coastal woods on a peninsula on the West Coast of Scotland and has stayed true to its natural roots. All the power and heat requirements for the distillery come from local renewables. They have a biomass boiler and hydroelectricity generator that are both fueled by woodchip from the local forestry. They want as little of a footprint as possible. A truly beautiful and remote distillery owned by Adelphi, the independent bottler. Ardnamurchan translates to “Headland of the Great Seas”.

1 Per Person

Limited release single malt Scotch whisky produced by Ardnamurchan [ARD•na•murkan] Distillery in Glenbeg, Scotland (Western Highlands). 100% unpeated malted barley. Matured in 22 ex-bourbon casks before being re-racked into ex-Paul Launois Champagne casks and 2 ex-bourbon casks; non-age statement

Brand Tasting Notes of peaches in syrup, toasted coconut, and grilled pineapple chunks—generously seasoned with ginger, nutmeg, and citrus marmalade—broaden to roasted cashews, dulce de leche cake, and white chocolate. The finish, lightly accented with mint, is long and buttery.

Talk about a perfect partnership! Producing single-barrel Champagnes from 100% Chardonnay in the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Paul Launois is the kind of new-wave Champagne producer who is at once classic and cutting-edge. So not only is this winemaker an ideal philosophical partner for distiller-on-the-rise Ardnamurchan, but the Launois barrels—custom crafted by Tonnellerie de Champagne using 4-year-old staves receiving varying levels of toast—provide the lively combination of vinous citrus and buttery barrel notes that creates the perfect stylistic foil for Ardnamurchan’s fruity, grain-forward, unpeated new make.
