Description
Ardnamurchan is steeped in rural, coastal woods on a peninsula on the West Coast of Scotland and has stayed true to its natural roots. All the power and heat requirements for the distillery come from local renewables. They have a biomass boiler and hydroelectricity generator that are both fueled by woodchip from the local forestry. They want as little of a footprint as possible. A truly beautiful and remote distillery owned by Adelphi, the independent bottler. Ardnamurchan translates to “Headland of the Great Seas”.
Taste
– 100% malted barley, 43% peated and 57% unpeated
– Distilled in 2018 and aged in ex-bourbon casks for approximately 5 years before being re-racked in ex-Madeira casks for two years
Brand Tasting Notes: A nose of cocoa powder, stewed plums, sugared almonds, and fruit scones leads to a palate of toffee apple, rosemary, and black pepper with a long and drying finish.
