Description
Ardnamurchan is steeped in rural, coastal woods on a peninsula on the West Coast of Scotland and has stayed true to its natural roots. All the power and heat requirements for the distillery come from local renewables. They have a biomass boiler and hydroelectricity generator that are both fueled by woodchip from the local forestry. They want as little of a footprint as possible. A truly beautiful and remote distillery owned by Adelphi, the independent bottler. Ardnamurchan translates to “Headland of the Great Seas”.
Taste
Matured in a mixture of Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez Hogsheads and Octaves. This is a marriage of peated and unpeated malt.
Brand Tasting Notes: Orange marmalade on the nose with melted butter on a hot toasted slice of wholegrain bread. Honey-coated dried dates. Gentle hints of minerals and earth. The palate has dried dates and figs. Malty and buttery. Mineral, beach pebbles on the finish.
