Description

Amrut is truly the pioneer of Indian Single Malt around the world. Most “whisky” produced in India would be classified as rum here in the United States so producing a Scottish style single malt was a huge risk but wow did it pay off! The word amrut is from the Sanskrit language and means “nectar of the gods”.

Taste

This spirit was initially matured in an ex-bourbon barrel before it was transferred to a custom-built, unique barrel that was constructed out of four different varieties of oak. Spectrum 004 was named after this Spectrum cask it was aged in. The four varieties of oak included American Oak with level three charring, French Oak with slight toasting, Ex-Oloroso Sherry Stave and Ex-Px Sherry Stave.

Tasting Notes from the Head Distiller ASHOK CHOKALINGAM:

This dark honey colored whisky offers quite the tasting journey, beginning with very strong scents of dried fruits and Christmas pudding with a near-perfect companion of coconut cream dosed with vanilla. Next, the spirit shows off an element of sticky toffee pudding with a shade of sandalwood and the phenol that is completely dusked due to the dominating influence of sherry is said to be mesmerizing.

Tasting Spectrum 004 is jammy and syrupy affair, and you’ll experience a cloud of mild spice dust that is quite lovely. The dust is enveloped by vanilla pudding and a creamy texture and there are juicy sultanas with an aromatic mask joined by the mildest hint of phenol and a perfect degree of wood tone. To finish, the whisky is brilliantly refreshing with a minty shade, ending with a sweet tone.
