Description
The name Adelphi traces its origins back to 1825 when the Adelphi Distillery was built in Glasgow. Its name was eventually changed to Loch Katrine Adelphi in the late 1870s. The distillery would be sold and eventually stop all production in the early 1900s. It was revived in 1993 by Jamie Walker who used the site as an independent bottling facility. He would eventually sell it on to the current owners, Keith Falconer and Donald Houston in 2004. Adelphi Selections is one of the most sought-after independent bottlers.
In 2014, Keith and Donald built and opened Ardnamurchan Distillery on the west coast of Scotland.
Taste
Distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2023 |Matured in an oak cask
Adelphi bottles stellar selections from undisclosed distilleries under its “Breath of the Angels” series. Breath of the Isles indicates whisky that has been distilled at one of Scotland’s Island distilleries (excluding Islay, which is considered its own region), which may indicate those found on Arran, Jura, Mull, Orkney, Skye, or Raasay.
Brand Tasting Notes: A nose of toasted sultana buns with salted butter and toffee apple leads to a palate of seaside air, marmalade, fudge, and baking spice with lingering dried fruit and salted chocolate
