Description

Kings County Distillery was founded in 2010 and is based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. In 2010 it was the smallest distillery in the country with five, 25-liter stills. In 2012 they moved to the Brooklyn Navy Yard where they are located today. Focused almost exclusively on whisky, they make Bourbon, Peated Bourbon, Empire Rye, and other creative whiskeys. You can rest assured that any whiskey with the Kings County name on it has been mashed, fermented, distilled, and aged on-site in Brooklyn.

Taste

Kings County created the world’s first Peated Bourbon in 2014, taking malt more typical of a smoky scotch whiskey and mashing it into a high-corn, high-malt bourbon. It’s the perfect marriage of American and scotch traditions in a balanced, complex whiskey.

Mashbill: 75% NY Corn, 25% UK Peated Malt | Age Range: 5-8 Years

Brand Tasting Notes: The nose has dark caramel, malted milk ball, grilled pineapple, and sweet smoke. The palate has candied sweetness, flaky pie crust, roasted walnuts, molasses, and oiled leather. The finish has semi-sweet chocolate, black tea leaf, balanced tannins, and cedar ember smoke.

Holly’s Tasting Notes: Charred Nutella, hazelnuts, hot chocolate and marshmallow hot chocolate packet, chocolate and vanilla wafer cookies. The palate jumps into more creamy milk chocolate, chocolate syrup, a dash of bubblegum, some sweet, creamy earth. The texture is really silky and rich. The smoke really is subtle, more like a cooked chocolate and coffee note.
